From the 5th, 6th and 7th of May 2017 – the following weekend is also an option depending on numbers. Please note this is not a tour but you will get to see, experience and photograph some amazing places and meet the locals.
Course aims: To develop an understanding of how to approach people and illustrate something of their lives in a single portrait.
Itinerary: Each morning will start in the classroom with a lesson brief, handouts and a slideshow, followed by practical assignments at the following destinations:
Day 01 – Sar Leu Market, followed by visiting the urban communities on the outskirts of Siem Reap.
Day 02 – We will visit the very rural farming communities in the province of Siem Reap. Including visiting a local medicine man who use traditional herbs to heal his the local farmers who visit him. Many too poor to visit a traditional hospital. Each of these trips are slightly different depending on what we encounter.
Day 03 – We will visit the fishing villages on the banks of the Tonle Sap Lake. Again this trip tries to avoid the usual tourist haunts but a boat ride out to the lake is fun too and should be included.
Optional extra, this is not part of my course but if you wish to visit the Temple complex of Angkor my driver Voan will be your guide. You pay him directly, the entrance fee has gone up somewhat but if you have never been there before it is a must.
The fee including minivan and boat hire and my tutoring $400 USD per person. I intentionally keep the numbers small, between three to five participants only, so you have lots of one-to-one time with me.
All levels welcome.
Fee $400 USD per person only, workshop sized limited to only five students – the fee includes all transportation Limousine and River Boat, tuition, student handouts plus lots of One-To-One time with Jonathan Taylor personally.
